The Mosquito Park Enterprises Ranch operation
is headquartered in the Fort Pierre national grasslands in Central South
Dakota. Most grasses on the Fort Pierre National Grasslands are Western
wheatgrass and other natives like big Blue Stem, Green Needle, & Buffalo
Grass. Beginning in 1999, we have planted about 1500 acres back to
native species.
The North American Bison, traditionally
referred to as “buffalo”, are at home on the prairie of central South Dakota
with the rolling hills and gumbo clay type soils. Our breeding herd
was selected from ranches in the Dakotas, Iowa, Nebraska, Montana, Colorado,
and the prairies of Canada.
At the present time we are finishing
most of our bulls and heifers for meat market, and will offer a select
few for show and sale. |
